The Ultimate Tomato Sauce for Pasta


olive oil, enough to cover the botom of the saucepan

2 garlic cloves, peeled and whole

1 can whole tomatoes

125 ml water

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp salt

black pepper

basil leaves


Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over low heat.

Add garlic and cook until fragrant.

Add canned tomatoes and water. Cover and simmer until the sauce thickens, about 30 min.

Add sugar, salt, basil leaves and pepper. Simmer for 2 min more.
